After the long winter wait, our much loved Ruby-Throated hummingbirds (Archilochus colubris) returned to our garden in Connecticut the first week of May. The first day there was only one, the next day three. They seemed to be mostly just sitting and resting from their long migration; the competitive squabbles and aerial dips and dives have not yet begun. I suspect the airs above ground will begin as soon as the females arrive.
