Artist's Description

A blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) showing off his prize. The jays love peanuts. When one of them sees peanuts around the bird feeders, he will call his fellow jays over to carry them off, one after another. I think they must cache them somewhere. This photograph was taken in Connecticut, USA in December 2014.

This photograph won first place in the "Corvidae" contest sponsored by the group "Wild Birds of This World" on FAA in September 2016. Many thanks to all those who voted!

All of my photographs, and any portion thereof, are copyrighted and are not in the public domain. “Pinning” any of my images to Pinterest, Facebook, or any other site is a violation of my copyright.
