Description
When I woke up on New Year's Day, the Japanese Willow outside our kitchen window, which is usually filled with an assortment of song birds, was empty. I wondered where all the birds were, until I looked over to one side of the Willow. There sat this Cooper's Hawk, no doubt waiting for his breakfast. Cooper's Hawks often hunt for small birds at bird feeders, and our usual assortment of birds did not return for quite a while after he flew off.

Their eye fascinates me. We have them here but not often seen.

Thanks so much for commenting, Robert! Their eyes fascinate me as well. While I do see Cooper's Hawks here occasionally, this was the first time I'd seen one right outside the kitchen window!
