This male house wren (Troglodytes aedon) is taking a break from singing to look around his territory. Although he has a serious look in his eye in this photograph, these birds are cheerful singers and a delight to have in the garden. We're always happy to hear their song in the Spring when they return to Connecticut.
Wrens range from Canada to the southernmost regions of South America, and as such, are common across an enormous range.
I purchased my first SLR, a 1970 Nikon FTN, when I was in High School. I studied both science and art in college, and although I pursued science and technology management as a career, artwork has remained a driving passion for me. Nature photography allows me to combine a love for nature, biology, and art. I'm very fortunate to live in a rural area where I can photograph horses, gardens, and wildlife.
