Artist's Description

I was at the pond behind our house in Connecticut, trying to catch a photograph of the elusive green herons. As I decided to give up on the herons, I turned and saw that our resident white-tailed doe (Odocoileus virginianus) and her fawn were standing behind me. The doe would have nothing of having her picture taken, but her fawn stood watching me for a minute or two before taking off after its mother. It was a lucky morning after all!
