Artist's Description

This is a Snowberry clearwing (Hemaris diffinis), one of the four species of hummingbird moth. Although the Snowberry clearwing is more common in the Western USA, we do have them here on our farm in Connecticut. They can be seen sipping nectar from the same flowers that attract butterflies, such as the buddleia, butterfly bush.

I studied both science and art in college, and although I pursued science and technology management as a career, artwork has remained a driving passion for me. Nature photography allows me to combine a love for nature, biology, and art. I'm very fortunate to live in a rural area where I can photograph horses, gardens, and wildlife. About 19 years ago, I converted to digital, and now use a Nikon D500.
