Description

Happy Halloween! This Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) is not as scary as she looks. She's actually a permanent resident/rescue at a raptor sanctuary in Killingworth, CT called "A Place Called Hope." This rescue/rehab sanctuary releases rehabilitated birds back into the wild. Those that cannot be released due to injuries that would prevent them from flying or hunting successfully, such as this owl, become long term residents.
