Description
This is an adolescent male Ruby-Throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris), who has just gotten his first two ruby-colored feathers. As the summer in Connecticut comes to an end, the hummingbirds are leaving to spend the colder months in southern climates. When this fellow returns next Spring, he will be sporting a throat full of ruby-colored feathers.
