This Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) looks like she's smiling. Photographed at the raptor rescue/refuge in Killingworth, CT called "A Place Called Hope," this owl was injured and can no longer live on her own. She "works" as an ambassador, teaching humans to respect, admire, and protect wildlife.
About Amy Porter
I purchased my first SLR, a 1970 Nikon FTN, when I was in High School. I studied both science and art in college, and although I pursued science and technology management as a career, artwork has remained a driving passion for me. Nature photography allows me to combine a love for nature, biology, and art. I'm very fortunate to live in a rural area where I can photograph horses, gardens, and wildlife.
