Description
These two mourning doves (Zenaida Macroura) stayed warm together despite frigid temperatures in an early April snow storm in Connecticut. Friends through thick and thin.
Mourning doves are ground feeders that are happy to pick up the sunflower seeds that fall from bird feeders. They have a beautiful, relaxing call and are abundant across North America.
This photograph won First Place at the Connecticut Audubon Photography Show in January 2017. It was an honor to have this worked appreciated in this way.
On FAA, this photograph won first place out of 1388 entries in the "Orders for Christmas" contest on FAA in November 2016, first place in the "January 2017 Logo" contest to become the logo for the "Photography Only" group, and first place in the "Pigeons and Doves" contest in December 2016. This photograph also won second place in the "Affectionate Animals" contest on FAA in November 2016, third place out of 922 entries in the "Wildlife Photography" contest on FAA in May 2016, and also tying for third place in the "Favorite Photo - No Florals" contest on FAA in May 2016.
