This is a female Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, photographed in August in Connecticut. These beautiful butterflies are native to Eastern North America and, fortunately, are not endangered.
This photograph tied for third place in the "Summer Photography" contest on FAA in March 2017! Many thanks to all those who voted!
