While the East coast is struggling through an August heat wave, this photograph of a blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) offers a reminder that the heat wave will end! Blue jays are native to North America and are members of the highly intelligent Corvidae family (along with crows). This photograph was taken in Connecticut in February 2016.
About Amy Porter
I purchased my first SLR, a 1970 Nikon FTN, when I was in High School. I studied both science and art in college, and although I pursued science and technology management as a career, artwork has remained a driving passion for me. Nature photography allows me to combine a love for nature, biology, and art. I'm very fortunate to live in a rural area where I can photograph horses, gardens, and wildlife. About 19 years ago, I converted to digital, and now use a Nikon D500.
