Artist's Description

Although widespread across the Americas, Barn Owls (Tyto alba) are in decline due to loss of habitat. These beautiful raptors need wide open fields and marshes for hunting.

This particular owl was injured and now lives in a wonderful raptor sanctuary in Killingworth, CT called, "A Place Called Hope." The sanctuary rehabilitates injured birds and releases those who are able to live wild again. Those birds with injuries that prohibit release, live at the sanctuary permanently.
