Artist's Description

The nest in this bird house holds two hungry baby tree swallows (Tachycineta bicolor). The parents are kept busy all day catching insects for their young, and this photograph captures the feeding that goes on seemingly non-stop.

This photograph was taken on a warm June morning in Connecticut.

I purchased my first SLR, a 1970 Nikon FTN, when I was in High School. I studied both science and art in college, and although I pursued science and technology management as a career, artwork has remained a driving passion for me. Nature photography allows me to combine a love for nature, biology, and art. I'm very fortunate to live in a rural area where I can photograph horses, gardens, and wildlife. About 19 years ago, I converted to digital, and now use a Nikon D500.
