This abstract image is actually the wing of a Bumble Bee (Bombus apidae), very close up. The bumble bees in our garden in Connecticut don't sting, and are so focused on collecting pollen from flower after flower that they allow a macro lens to get quite close.
I purchased my first SLR, a 1970 Nikon FTN, when I was in High School. I studied both science and art in college, and although I pursued science and technology management as a career, artwork has remained a driving passion for me. Nature photography allows me to combine a love for nature, biology, and art. I'm very fortunate to live in a rural area where I can photograph horses, gardens, and wildlife. About 19 years ago, I converted to digital, and now use a Nikon D500.
