This Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata) was bracing himself against the wind during a February snow storm in Connecticut.
This photograph won first place out of 359 entries in the FAA contest "The Weather" in December 2016, and second place in the “Jaybird Photography” contest in August 2019. Thank you to all those who voted!
About Amy Porter
I purchased my first SLR, a 1970 Nikon FTN, when I was in High School. I studied both science and art in college, and although I pursued science and technology management as a career, artwork has remained a driving passion for me. Nature photography allows me to combine a love for nature, biology, and art. I'm very fortunate to live in a rural area where I can photograph horses, gardens, and wildlife. About 19 years ago, I converted to digital, and now use a Nikon D500.
