Artist's Description

This is a baby osprey (Pandion haliaetus) that is almost ready to leave the nest. While flapping his wings to build strength, this almost-fledgling looks to also be practicing his intimidating stare. The yellow-eyed adult (parent) is in the background. This photograph was taken from the bow of the Riverquest on the lower CT River in Connecticut in July.
