This American Tree Sparrow (Spizella aborea) took a moment to pause and look at my camera and me, before continuing to look for food on a November morning in Connecticut. Although somewhat similar in appearance, these sparrows are not the same as the invasive House Sparrows.

I purchased my first SLR, a 1970 Nikon FTN, when I was in High School. I studied both science and art in college, and although I pursued science and technology management as a career, artwork has remained a driving passion for me. Nature photography allows me to combine a love for nature, biology, and art. I'm very fortunate to live in a rural area where I can photograph horses, gardens, and wildlife. About 19 years ago, I converted to digital, and now use a Nikon D500.
